When it comes to visiting Asia, there are 49 countries to choose from. While each of them offer a lot in terms of adventure, culture, and beautiful sights, there’s just something unique and magical about Thailand that makes it stand out from the rest.
If you plan on taking an Asian vacation anytime in the near future, here’s 5 reasons why Thailand should be the country you choose;
1. Thailand is Budget-Friendly
If you’re like me, you have a strict budget when you travel. Unfortunately, this means some trips will have to be limited in terms of what you can see and do. This is one of the biggest reasons I love Thailand.
Not only can you find cheap flights — from airlines like AirAsia or Nok Air — that constantly offer some type of discount, but once you’re there, Thailand offers multiple budget-friendly modes of transportation to get around its beautiful cities. All-in-all, it’s nearly impossible to break the bank.
2. Nothing Beats Authentic Thai Food
There’s a significant difference between visiting a Thai restaurant in your local city/town versus experiencing the cuisine in Thailand itself. Many aren’t aware, but authentic Thai food is actually pretty diverse.
This means there’s something for everyone; whether you’re a Pad Thai lover or want something more simple, such as Khao Yam (a rice salad with shrimp). What’s more? Food options change depending on what city in Thailand you choose to visit. Your taste buds (and wallet) won’t be disappointed.
3. Rich Thai History and Culture
While there are many modern and contemporary cities in Thailand, the rich and intriguing ancient Thai culture is still prevalent no matter where you go in the country.
One of my favorite Thai cities to visit is Sukhothai, which houses ancient ruins that date all the way back to the Siamese Kingdom in the year 1238. Beyond this though, Thai culture can be found in everything from the country’s art forms — including dancing and puppetry — to the traditional customs of the Thai people.
4. Exotic Animals & Incredible Beaches
If you’re an animal lover, Thailand is the place to be. Exotic wildlife can be found throughout the country’s many national parks, beaches, and mountains. I’d start with Khao Yai National Park, located in central Thailand, which is home to wild boars, tigers, and elephants. However, there’s many more animals to see on the country’s breathtaking beaches.
Speaking of beaches, Thailand has over 1,500 of coastline to explore. While you will likely find droves of other tourists on most of the country’s beaches, some are still quiet and secluded; such as Sunset Beach, located on the island of Koh Kraden.
5. Limitless Adventures
If you love to be outdoors, Thailand is a dream come true. The country offers a variety of different excursions, allowing tourists to trek up mountains, explore hidden temples, or go white water rafting down some of Thailand’s many rivers.
Just imagine how exhilarating it would be to start off each day with a zip line through a lush Thai jungle or maybe even scuba diving. The possibilities are endless!
